Hair today, gone tomorrow?

I like male chests. Nicely defined, well muscled, male chests. For me, there's nothing sexier than a shirtless guy in a pair of well-worn jeans with the waistband dipping ever so slightly so that the line of his hip is exposed. Seriously, my mouth practically waters when I see that little trail to paradise going down from six-pack abs.

Recently, I went to a water park where there were a great number of bare, male chests available for my viewing pleasure. Unfortunately, there was a definite LACK of muscular chests in the selection. Granted, it was a family oriented park and not Muscle Beach, but it got me to thinking.

One thought that popped into the chaos I call a brain was, HELLO, Ever hear of Bowflex? The other thought was the vast, vast majority of men have hairy chests.

Now, my father is a hairy, hairy man as is my husband, so that may color my perceptions some, but I always thought once a man went through puberty, they grew hair upon their chests. It's sort of what separates the men from the boys, yes?

Then how come in all the posters, book covers, and even movies and soap operas, all the men have muscular hairless chests? Does the act of pumping iron work like Nair? (If so, I'm starting on a new leg regimine so I never have to shave again.)

Have we as a society in our endless search for youth associated hairless chests as a sign of beauty?

I happen to like a little hair to run my fingers through and rub up against on all the right spots. I'm not talking about completely gorillia here, but an nice patch of fuzz over the pecs and leading down to a thin Happy Trail is very sexy to me.

I appreciate the uncluttered beauty of a hairless chest on male models, but when we're talking about getting nekkid and doing the deed, I like having a bit of hair to play with.
(Sorry, TMI?)

So, tell me, what do you think? Hair or no hair? And why?

Now I think I'm going to have to do some personal research, have a great weekend!

You sure got me thinking about this, Ari. I don't know if most of you realize, but nearly 100% of book covers who have a man on them have a man who is hairless. Think about it. I went looking and whooaaaaa, that's sooo true! Yet, between the covers of most books when the hero and heroine are in a clinch, maybe just finished with the 'dirty', I checked to see what is the heroine was doing. Why she's trickling her fingers through the wiry hair on his chest, or rubbing them through the soft furred covering on his chest, or, good god in heaven, tickling the end of her nose with the soft patch of hair between his pecs. Strange...never thought of this before.

Me??? I like a chest either way, but lean towards a bit of hair.

I agree with you, Ari, that I don't want a gorilla. But I think a nice covering over the pecs and that enticing trail down the tummy... Oh, yeah! Very nice.

In my opinion, I think most of the male models shave their chests (and legs!) so the muscles are more defined for competitions. I know I've seen pictures on some male models' websites (purely for research) where he had a very nice amount of hair on his chest in some pictures, and was completely smooth in others.

I definitely love the Happy Trail! Almost all of my heroes will have that nice covering that a woman can play with.

I agree with Lynn...I believe that modeling and body-building competitions are the reason the hairless chest has become the norm. They must shave for those competitions in order to highlight muscle definition...and the vast majority of models are involved or have had some experience with that kind of competition in order to get where they are!

Personally I like a little bit of hair, but definitely like the way hairlessness shows off a nice body. The thing is...for many men...like my hubby for example...there's no such thing as a LITTLE bit of hair. It's everywhere! lol...so it's kind of an all or nothing kind of deal. The many who just has that happy trail to deal with is a lucky man indeed.

This might also be a good place to mention the recent trend for men to shave, (or at least trim) EVERYWHERE these days. So...with the equally popular trend for women to shave as well...if it's been a couple days since the man 'cleaned up'...well, let's just say it lends a whole new meaning to the term "whisker burn"! lol

I'm up in the hair---um, I mean air about this. My hubby isn't gorilla-like, but he's definitely hairy, and I really find it sexy and manly. But...when I'm scoping, for some reason my eye always wanders to either the mostly hairless ones, or those with just a sparse amount on the chest and abs, and of course those with that sexy trail you spoke of. All in all though, for me, it's just on a case-by-case basis. If he's hot, he's hot, hair or not. (Hey, I rhymed!)

But regarding hair and puberty, I think in a lot of cases, it's based on heredity. Some grown men really are naturally hairless or low-volume hairy, not because of a razor, but because of DNA.

Now, those who do shave their whole bodies....ugh, what a drag that must be! It's bad enough for a woman having to shave all that leg surface area. But what a pain to have to add in the chest, arms, and the back---not to mention having to get someone to do your back for you. LMAO!

LOL, by the way, I love your post title, Ari. Hmm, and the topic itself really conjures up some naughty thoughts, which is a good time to get back to writing. Inspiration, ya know? ;)

Ari I loved this post. I have to say for me a good looking chest is a good looking chest. Like you I don't want someone with hair so think he might as well be wearing a fur coat. You were dead on about the happy trail. I just love that.

That is so true that most, if not practically all, book covers have hairless male chests.

Me, I don't mind chest hair. Good thing too, because hubby has a lot of it. :-)

I love hair on a manly chest. My hubby is a guy that has a naturally hairless chests-he's got maybe about 7 or 8 hairs total.

Is there something out there like a chest toupe?

LOL,
