ROMANTICON!
Okay, I don't know about you, but I'm psyched! This coming weekend is Ellora's Cave's first every convention, the Romanticon! And I'm going to get to not only meet some of you wonderful readers, I'm going to get to see several of my fellow Scribes!!!
Okay, I know, enough with the exclamation points, Diana. Just calm down. They're only people, you know. Just people who happen to read and write some of the most fantastic erotic romance on the planet!!!
Oops. Did it again. I'll try to be better, honest. But when I think about getting to talk to fellow authors about using Second Life to promote their books, or when I realize I'm on a panel with Tawny Taylor AND Joey Hill???!!! And then there's our very own Lynn LaFleur who's in on the discussion of the Editor/Author marriage to start off the conference, and Ruby Storm talking about writing in historical genre to finish us off!!!! Sorry, the exclamation points just have to come out again.
I'm gonna get to see so many of you! If you're going, leave a note here and let's see if we can't all get together (at the bar drinking Cosmos if Ruby has her way).
Yipee! Just a few more days!

Romanticon was ridiculously expensive. At those prices, I expect my room and meals as well as a con membership.
DragonCon was dreadfully high (about $500 as opposed to the usual $250 I spend per con). I couldn't swing two major expenses in consecutive months.
I wish I was there! Next year!!!!
Wish I could be there. Have fun!
Actually, it wasn't that much money -- only $250 for general registants and that could have been paid for in two separate payments. For our registration fee we got all the discussions as well as most of our meals. Not sure what you mean by a "con membership" though. The hotel was separate, but then, EVERY conference I've ever been to has had it separate.
Are you perhaps thinking of the Romantic Times convention? It's a LOT more expensive than the Romanticon.
I wrote a great piece about my experiences this past weekend, but alas, my own blog has decided to be naughty and not behave. I'll try from my home computer (I'm still at Romanticon). But I can sum it all up in one word: WONDERFUL!
Diana, I come out of science fiction conventions. $35-50 for registration (aka con membership). A $300 hotel bill split 3-4 ways. 20% of my books going to the person who paid for the dealer table. Meals out of a cooler or the con-suite.
$250 will get me into ShadowCon (local), MidSouth Con (local), Southern Delta Church of Wicca's May Day, Hypericon (Nashville), Memphit Fur Meet (local), Festival of Souls (local) and Dragon*Con (Atlanta) all in the same year and as a merchant. That's assuming none of them have me as a guest, which means my attendance is free.
It seems a ridiculous price for a single convention.
